HEPPLEWHITE pulls 1765 to 1810

FEATURES: All "D" series pulls are stamped from thin sheet brass in hardened steel dies, as the originals were. All are mounted with two turned head posts threaded for round nuts.

FINISH: "Golden Glow ," (polished bright), or Antique, (aged) finish furnished as desired - state preference.

ESCUTCHEONS: (abbr. ESC.) Escutcheons for all "D" series pulls will be found on the escutcheons page. The most commonly used ones are L-64 or L-65. Use L-66 with D-44, or L-68 imitation ivory esc. with any inlaid furniture. On RARE occasions, plates the size and shape of the pulls have been found on original pieces, unless your original shows evidence of this, use an esc. from the "L" series. The L67 may be used with any oval pull.

DELIVERY: Most "D" series pulls are on hand for shipment within a few days.

George Hepplewhite    ?--1786

English cabinet maker, very little know of his early life. His work was lighter and more graceful than that of Thomas Chippendale. Hepplewhite is credited with the design of the sideboard (along with  his contemporary, Thomas Shearer) which displaced the table and separate pedestals then in use. He was partial to curved lines, using them wherever possible. Sheraton, who followed him, preferred straight lines.
