Bit Key Mortised Locks

EXTERIOR LOCKS

Locks like the XM100 with the keyhole and spindle hole in "horizontal" alignment have been used since the early 1700's. The "vertical" type, our XM109, was first made in quantity about 1790. We make all parts for both locks in our own shop, as "commercial" production of the bit key type mortised locks has stopped. Backsets available for the XM100 are 4-1/2" to 5-3/4" as stock. XM100 fittings include a turn lock bolt, a bit key lock bolt, with escutcheon rosette combination openwork plate as shown. Write for detailed listing of stock locks, or send the details of the opening in your door for quotation on a special lock.
